Geordie presenter Declan Donnelly was left feeling very emotional after meeting a long-distance relative for the first time.

The 48-year-old, who is known for being one half of the iconic presenting duo Ant & Dec, appeared on Capital FM alongside Ant, and was surprised by the show with a distant relative from Ireland.

A clip of the moment was shared to Capital FM’s official Instagram account, along with the caption: “Still getting emosh over this heartwarming moment with @antanddec 🥹 Watch the full video on @globalplayer ❤️”.

In the clip, presenter Chris Stark tells Dec that he happens to be related to one of Capital FM’s producers.

“You might be surprised to know that you are related to a member of the Capital team,” Chris explained to Dec.

Dec seemed unsure at first as he said: “really, genuinely?”

As part of a game, presenters Chris, Sian Welby and Roman Kemp introduced Dec to three producers from Capital FM, and asked him to guess which he was related to.

The producers were; Thomas from Newcastle, Kaz from Dublin and Ann from Sydney.

Dec incorrectly guessed Thomas as his relative due to the Newcastle connection, but it was in fact Kaz from Dublin.

Kaz then sat down with Dec to explain the connection between them, which was that Dec’s Uncle Charlie was her grandmother’s brother in law.

Kaz then surprised Dec with old photos showing her grandmother with Dec’s father working in a hayfield together, and a further photo of Dec’s mother and father.

Dec became emotional at the photos of his father, who sadly passed away 2011 following a battle with cancer.

He exclaimed: “Oh my god, that’s amazing!”, before embracing Kaz.
