Here’s how the weather is looking at the moment for the Easter school holidays, including the Easter weekend, according to weather website Accuweather.

What is the forecast for the Easter school holidays?

A cloudy start to the school holidays will hopefully be replaced by some sunny spells on 12 and 13 April.

Unsettled weather and more chances of rain will return by the end of the week heading into the Easter weekend.

Drier conditions look set to come back to the region for the week following Easter Monday, with steady temperatures of around 10/11°C.

21 April could see some light showers in the afternoon and the final day of the holidays, 22 April, looks likely to be cloudy and mild.

What is the forecast for the Easter weekend?

Spring is a time when we can hope to see some warmer, sunnier weather. However, for the Newcastle region, the early indications are that it could be a wet Easter.

Here is a run down of what the early indications

Friday, 15 April

There is an expected high temperature of 16°C in store for Newcastle, but despite the double figure temperature, strong south westerly winds could make it feel a lot colder.

A wet morning could be on the cards for the region, but the wind could keep much of the rain away.

The night will see temperatures drop to around 8°C and a small risk of showers.

Saturday, 16 April

Saturday of the Easter weekend looks set to be much drier and brighter, with a reduced chance of any disruptive wind.

A high of 17°C combined with the drier conditions could make for a pleasant Saturday, whatever you may have planned.

Saturday night could see the return of some heavy showers and temperatures drop down to around 8°C.

There will be some light wind around, and heavy clouds in places.

Sunday, 17 April

Easter Sunday in Newcastle looks set to be very pleasant, with similar temperatures and conditions to Easter Saturday.

A very light breeze should result in a ‘feels like’ temperature that isn’t too cold, but the thick cloud cover will result in very little sightings of the sun.

As we head into the evening, the chance of thunderstorms and rain will increase.

When the storms pass, there will be a cloudy night ahead.

Monday, 18 April

Things will turn cooler and more damp in the evening, with showers expected through the night.
