Eldon Square announces brand-new shops including beauty brand Sephora

Newcastle’s top shopping destination Eldon Square, is set to undergo exciting developments, including a brand-new NEXT department store as well as a Sephora store.

Eldon Square and Newcastle City Council have announced details of an enhanced Cooperation Agreement and planning submission, which will deliver the two major leasing deals.

This will lead to 500 new job opportunities, and 200,00 square feet of new leisure and entertainment opportunities. 

Pete Cooper, Director at Eldon Square Ltd, said: “With these deals, Eldon Square consolidates its position as a Premier League player in Newcastle city centre and our flourishing partnership with Newcastle City Council enables us to progress our ambitious growth plans at speed. We are accelerating the centre’s performance, whilst helping to widen the city centre’s leisure and entertainment offering.” 

The new leasing deal secures 61,000 sq ft NEXT department store which will be opened in the former Debenhams unit, which is set to open in November 2024.

Jayne Pushon, NEXT, said: “We are very excited to be launching a new large format store in Newcastle and look forward to welcoming more customers to Eldon Square. 

“We are delighted to be able to introduce customers to our new home and beauty department, where we will have staff on hand to talk more about our exciting product ranges in the new store.”  

Global beauty brand Sephora will also be opening its doors in Newcastle’s Eldon Square, in a 6,600 sq ft store. The make-up brand only has three other locations in the UK, making Eldon Square its fourth location. Sephora is also set to open in November 2024.
