‘It’s very important to me’ Ella Henderson to headline female-led North East charity fundraiser

Ladies X Rock N Raise will raise vital funds for the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation and the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Chart-topper Ella Henderson has been confirmed as the headline act for an all female festival in Newcastle, which aims to raise funds for an important cause.

28-year-old Henderson rose to fame after competing in the ninth series of The X Factor UK in 2012. Despite being eliminated from the show, Henderson has enjoyed a successful music career since, with her debut song Ghost and debut album Chapter One achieving number one on the Official UK Charts in 2014.

More recently, Henderson has collaborated with the likes of David Guetta, Nathan Dawe, Rudimental, Jax Jones to release a string of hugely successful hits. 

Henderson will soon perform in the North East as part of one of the regions best loved charity fundraisers. 

Rock N Raise, which has been organised by the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation, will take place on Friday, April 5 at Newcastle’s Wylam Brewery.

As a nod to International Women’s Day (March 8), the exciting event is putting together an all female line-up, changing its name to Ladies X Rock N Raise, being hosted by Hits Radio presenter Stephanie Hirst. 

Joining Henderson includes a host of talented performers from the North East including; Kay Greyson, Dani and Zara, Lorraine Crosby and Groovetrain.

Money raised from the event will go directly towards the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation as well as the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Speaking of performing at the event, Henderson said: “I’m so proud and excited to be a part of this wonderful event for such an incredible cause.

“Creating an awareness around The Teenage Cancer Trust is very important to me so getting to do this through my platform and my music is an honour.”

CEO of the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation, Angie Jenkison, said: “Each year we give it a slightly different emphasis and this year we decided to put female talent front and centre.

“All our artists are performing absolutely free of charge and, as there are no age restrictions for the event, we hope the audience will be as multi-generational as our performers are.”
