Northumberland Beach ranked as one of the top coastal spots in northern England

Bamburgh Beach has been named as the best beach in the UK according to The Times.

The national publisher took public recommendations before creating their list with the Northumberland coastline spot taking first place across Northern England.

The Times’ description of the site used local’s descriptions of the beach to make its case with the dramatic castle overlooking the coast seen as a prominent feature.

The swathes of golden sand, rock pools with hermit crabs and the stunning sunsets from the coastline also pushed Bamburgh to the top spot, as did the excellent water quality.

A heavy recommendation is also given to nearby Seahouses, which the writer claims to have “views of the Farne Islands and significantly cheaper chips.”

The Northumberland spot beat Dunstanburgh and Cresswell, which are also in Northumberland, Tynemouth Longsands, Formby Beach in Merseyside as well as Whitby and Filey to the regional title.
