I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here is back on our screens for the newest series!

Series 22 started last Sunday, returning to the original location in Australia. The first episode showed the celebrities meeting, and four of them becoming VIP’s (which unbeknownst to them, stood for Very Isolated People). Last night’s episode showed all of the celebrities reunited in the main camp, and we got to learn a little bit more about the celebrities’ personalities.

North East born footballer Jill Scott is part of the new line-up and we are certainly rooting for her to do well on the show! Last night, we saw Jill take part in a dingo dollar challenge with Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner, as well as declaring her love for Peter Andre as she performed the rap from his 1995 song Mysterious Girl.

It has been exactly 20 years since the show first aired back in 2002, so we decided to look back at other previous North East contestants.

Vic Reeves

Comedian and actor Vic Reeves, who is best known for his double act with Bob Mortimer was actually born in Leeds, however he was brought up in County Durham. Reeves (real name Jim Moir) appeared in series four with his wife Nancy Sorrell, but they were the first two celebrities to be eliminated. Comedian Joe Pasquale went on to win the show.

Scott Henshall

Henshall studied at Northumbria University and is most known for designing “The World’s Most Expensive Football Boots” worn by Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and John Terry. He was the second person to be eliminated from the series, which was won by Busted band member Matt Willis.

Who could forget Vicky Pattison on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here? The former Geordie Shore star, who was born in Wallsend was a late arrival to series 15, but went on to be crowned the Queen of the Jungle, after showing the public a different side to her.

Scarlett Moffatt

Well, the North East seemed to be on a bit of a roll, as the following year Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt went into the jungle, and also came out of it a winner! Born in County Durham, Moffatt remained down-to-earth throughout the series, winning over the public and fellow campmates.
