5. The Delaval Arms
This Grade II listed building is included on CAMRA’s North East Pub Interiors of Special Historic Interest. “The many fine features include, mosaic floor at entrance, the etched glass panel on inner door and original fireplace in ‘Select Room’ which has hatch to back of bar.”
6. Tynemouth Social Club
CAMRA said: “Formerly a Co-op, this well-established social club at the heart of Tynemouth has a full pub licence and welcomes visitors. After several attempts to sell real ale, the club now has a rotating guest beer policy which has stimulated demand.”
7. Tynemouth Lodge Hotel
CAMRA said: “An externally tiled 1799 free house, next to a former house of correction, that has featured in every issue of the Guide since 1983. The comfortable one-room pub has a U-shaped lounge with the bar on one side and a serving hatch on the other.”
8. Seven Stars, North Shields
This pub is described as a “recently refurbished, single roomed pub which serves five real ales including a house beer from Three Kings Brewery and four others. Seven craft beers from local breweries and brewers around the country are available."
