Fans certain Newcastle drag queen was ‘robbed’ on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK

Choriza May continues to represent the city on the show.

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK fans in Newcastle were left confused after last night’s episode with many thinking local queen Choriza May was hard done by.

Episode two of the hit series’ third UK season aired on BBC Three last night and saw the queens challenged to produce motivational workout videos for faux channel Dragoton.

Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse appeared as a guest judge and was on hand to choreograph the number for the 11 remaining competitors.

Many of the season’s stars gushed about their background in dance school and penchant for a big number, while Newcastle’ Choriza was left worrying the challenge might not fall in her wheelhouse.

Choriza, who lives in the city but is originally from Spain, burst onto the show last week and had fans howling with her entrance line.

She said: “Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful, hate me because I’m an immigrant.”

Her tongue-in-cheek comment made Choriza an instant fan-favourite but all looked to be going downhill last night.

However, the drag queen pulled it out of the bag with an over-the-top performance that once again had viewers laughing.

In the next challenge, her runway look, Choriza donned an extravagant blue and white gown for the Red Carper Show-Stoppers category.

Despite her strong performances, the drag queen was deemed just to be ‘safe’ by RuPaul.

Fans were quick to disagree with the decision online with many arguing their favourite had been ‘robbed’.

One wrote: “Choriza May was lowkey robbed this week. Should have at least been one of the tops.”

Another said: “I do not appreciate the @chorizamay being safe this week. She had me dying laughing at the TV the entire episode.”

A different Twitter user wrote: “She’s THAT queen of the season, you know the one that’s constantly serving top tier every episode but somehow ends up being overlooked and underappreciated.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK airs at 8 pm every Thursday night.
