Take a first look around refurbished city bar popular with Newcastle United matchgoers

The city centre bar has reopened after renovations.

A popular fixture of Newcastle nightlife has re-opened its doors after a makeover which saw it closed for over five weeks.

Shark Club, which is situated in Sandman Signature Newcastle Hotel, first opened its doors in 2011.  Located on the site of the original Newcastle brewery, opposite St James’ Park, it has been a regular fixture on the hospitality scene and Newcastle United matchdays for over a decade.

Having invested a significant amount in renovations, Shark Club now provides an updated interior, a new bar and an improved layout, which the bar claims allows for better views of big screens.

New items, including a cheese burger pizza, a variety of smash burgers and a mouth-watering philly steak sandwich, are joining the menu. The Shark Club’s chicken wings are also set to have additional flavours join the range while milkshakes will also join the line up.

The new-look Shark Club is open to customers now.

Pat Farrell, Shark Club’s Food and Beverage Director, said: “Shark Club has always been about providing the ultimate sports bar experience. Newcastle was our first venue in the UK, and it has been a huge hit with patrons from near and far for the last 13 years.

"We wanted to invest in Newcastle to ensure our guests continue to get the best sports bar experience in the North East. We have made a major update to our food and cocktail menu that we think will surprise and delight our long-time fans and new audiences with tasty ideas like Bar Bites and juicy Smash Burgers. Whatever the 2024 sporting calendar brings – we’re ready for it!”

Tables and booths are now available to book via the venue's website.
