This summer saw the pair, prominent on social media, bring to and end their long-term relationship, it’s understood, with Pastore’s move back to Italy, coinciding with the final months of Tonali’s worldwide football ban for betting offences.
The midfielder has since made his return to the Newcastle United side, getting a near hero’s welcome at the City Ground in the penalty shootout win over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup, before a Premier League return against Tottenham Hotspur just days later.

Hide AdTonali was also back on the international scene with Italy this week, playing an instrumental role for his national side as they produced a remarkable result in Paris, beating France 3-1 in the UEFA Nations League, then a 2-1 win in Israel. Tonali has been hailed by the Italian press for his role in both games, in which he completed 90 minutes for the first time in almost a year.
And while football is back on the agenda for Tonali, it’s life back in Italy to enjoy for Pastore, who famously soaked in the Geordie life while living with the 23-year-old in Gosforth.
Tonali could be handed his first Magpies’ start of the season this afternoon, when Newcastle travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers (4.30pm kick-off).
