Full list of road closures ahead of Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund Champions League clash

There will be numerous road closures in place ahead of Newcastle United’s Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund.

Thousands of Borussia Dortmund fans are set to take to the streets of Newcastle on Wednesday as they march towards St James’ Park for Newcastle United’s next Champions League match.

United currently sit at the top of the ‘group of death’ and will take on the Bundesliga side having gone eight games undefeated in all competitions.

Like with the PSG fans last month, roads will be closed throughout Newcastle city centre to enable fans to reach the stadium together.

NE1 has announced a pre-match march will take place from 5pm to 6:15pm, closing roads for over an hour.

Bigg Market, Blackett Street, Grey Street, Newgate Street, Grainger Street, Morden Street, New Bridge Street West, Market Street, Percy Street and Gallowgate will all be closed during the parade.

Stagecoach services will be diverted around these streets between 5pm and 6:15pm while Go North East services will only go as far as Gateshead Interchange for the hour. Passengers can instead use their valid ticket on Metro services.

These closures are in addition to the normal matchday restrictions on Strawberry Place, St James Street and Terrace Place. However these restrictions will be in place from the earlier time of 5pm and will be lifted at 11pm.
