This highly coveted accolade, often referred to as the “Curry Oscars,” places Raval among the UK’s most elite Indian dining establishments.
Competing against Michelin-starred venues such as Benares in Mayfair and Amaya in Knightsbridge, Raval’s win shines a spotlight on Tyneside’s thriving culinary scene and reinforces the Northeast’s growing reputation as a fine dining destination.

“It’s not just an achievement for Raval but for everyone in Newcastle, Gateshead and the Northeast who has supported us on this journey. Winning alongside Michelin-starred venues is a humbling experience and shows the talent flourishing in this region.”
The Raval team took an ambitious approach to preparing for the awards, crafting a menu designed to showcase their innovation and respect for traditional Indian cooking.

Yawar Khan, Chair of the Asian Catering Federation, praised Raval’s achievement: “The quality of competition this year was exceptional, and Raval’s win is a testament to the incredible talent thriving outside London. The North of England is becoming a culinary force to be reckoned with, and Raval is leading the charge.”
This achievement builds on Raval’s growing acclaim, having been named Best Indian Restaurant Outside London by the British Indian Good Food Guide in October 2024.

Raval credits its success to the loyalty and enthusiasm of its patrons. Nas Islam added: “We owe this award to our customers, who have championed us and embraced our vision for fine dining.”
