Geordie pop icon Cheryl Tweedy is set to reunite with fellow Newcastle-born stars Ant and Dec, as Girls Aloud secure finale spot on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Heaton-born Cheryl shot to fame in 2002, after appearing on Popstars: The Rival, winning a place in the girl group, Girls Aloud.

Girls Aloud, which also consisted of Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh and Sarah Harding, became increasingly popular following the reality music competition, achieving four number one hits and two number one albums.

Following their split, Cheryl embarked on a solo career, as a solo singer and television personality.

However, it was revealed last year that Girls Aloud would reunite after ten years apart, to celebrate their former bandmate Sarah, who sadly died in 2021 following a battle with breast cancer.

Girls Aloud are set to embark on a UK reunion tour, starting in Dublin on May 17 and coming to a close in Liverpool on June 30.

The iconic girl band will perform three shows at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on May 31, June 1 and June 2.

It has now been revealed that Girls Aloud will appear on Ant and Dec’s primetime Saturday night television series (Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway) in the live final episode as Star Guest Announcers, which will air on ITV on April 13.

Girls Aloud have appeared on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway in the past, as well as Cheryl on her own.

Geordie presenters Ant and Dec revealed last year that they would be taking a break from Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway after the current series.
