If you are a super Strictly Come Dancing fan like myself, then you will surely be head over heels for the professional dancers that take to the dancefloor each year, paired with a celebrity.

Although Strictly Come Dancing revolves around different celebrities competing for the Glitterball trophy with the help of a professional partner, the professionals themselves now have their own huge fan bases across the country.

Nadiya Bychkova and Kai Widdrington are two Strictly professionals, who are loved across the nation for their talent, their personalities and their loved-up relationship with one another.

They embarked on their very own tour, named Once Upon A Time and arrived at Newcastle’s O2 City Hall on Thursday, April 27.

Let’s just start by saying that the tour was more than just the couple dancing together. Billed as a “song and dance tour”, the full production was of a high quality and standard, with many factors incorporated into the show to provide a spectacular evening for the audience.

The Once Upon A Time show, told Nadiya and Kai’s individual life stories from their childhood, up until the present day as well as their love story as a romantic couple.

Each story was told with a song (courtesy of amazing musician Tomas Wolstenholme), video footage, graphics and of course through the medium of dance.

Nadiya and Kai were joined by wonderful backing dancers, who elevated each performance. A stand out performer for me, was Oliver Beardmore. The young dancer from Bournemouth had incredibly sharp yet flowing moves and was able to perform every single dance style with ease. He is certainly one to watch in the dancing world, and I hope to see him competing as a professional on the Strictly dance floor in the near future.

However, we weren’t just provided with beautiful dancing accompanied by live music, as the show had comedic aspects too. Nadiya and Kai took the audience on a journey to a Blackpool ballroom competition in the most hilarious way, while Kai on his own delivered some fantastic jokes, accents and impressions.

Nadiya and Kai also took time on the show to pay tribute to former Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman, who sadly passed away recently at the age of 78.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience. The show was jam packed with so much talent, and unique aspects. Most importantly, I was blown away by the talent presented on stage, and the love Nadiya and Kai have for each other was reflected in each partnered performance and interaction with one another.
