The Great North Run is an event with a globally revered reputation too, meaning many participants travel to Newcastle from elsewhere in the UK and even overseas.
As such, hotel rooms are snapped up well ahead of time before prices skyrocket closer to the event.
The Great North Run race begins at 10:45 am on the Sunday, meaning that anyone not living in the North East will likely have to stay overnight on the Saturday.
