‘He will never be forgotten’ - family pay tribute to a man who died following a collision in Newcastle

The family of a man who died in a collision in Newcastle last year have paid tribute to him.

Tributes have been paid to a man who died in a collision involving a car and a motorbike on Walker Road, in Byker, at around 1.45pm on Friday, January 28, 2022.

Emergency services attended the incident but the rider of the motorcycle, later named as John Bourne, from Walker, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

An inquest into the 21-year-old’s dead was held in Newcastle at the end of last month, in which the coroner ruled that he had died from injuries following a road traffic collision.

Today (Monday, September 4), John’s family have paid tribute to a man who they say had a “heart of gold”.

The tribute said: “John Bourne – 13.11.2000 to 28.01.2022 – a much-loved son and brother.

“We are devastated that he is no longer here with us.

“To this day, he is loved and missed by all of his family and friends.

“John had a heart of gold that will shine down on our lives every day – there is such a big hole in our family since his passing. He will never be forgotten.”

Police Constable Sandra Belisle, of Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols department, offered her condolences to John’s family.

She added: “Any death on our roads is a tragedy, but it is especially poignant when it involves somebody so young who had their full life ahead of them.

“Our thoughts remain with John’s family and loved ones, and we will continue to offer them any support they need.”
