How the Byker Grove cast have changed over the years

We take a trip down memory lane with images of the cast then versus now.

Newcastle-based children’s show Byker Grove aired its very first episode in 1989 on BBC. The show ran until 2006, consisting of 18 series in total.

The show helped to catapult the careers of many Geordie stars including the likes of Ant and Dec.

Here, we take a look back at what the stars looked like when they appeared on the show, compared to now.

1. Jill Halfpenny

Jill appeared on Byker Grove from 1989 until 1992, playing the role of Nicola Dobson.

Dec appeared on Byker Grove from 1989 until 1994, and returned briefly in 2000. He played the role of Duncan Sperring.

Ant appeared on Byker Grove from 1990 until 1993. He also briefly returned in 2000. He played the role of Peter “PJ” Jenkins. Photo: Getty Images
