The public are mourning the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, after Buckingham Palace announced her death yesterday evening.

Here is how you can pay your respects to Her Majesty The Queen in Gateshead.

Gateshead City Council have announced that Books of Condolence are available to sign in various centres and libraries across Gateshead. The Books of Condolence will be open during the location’s opening hours, and will close at 5pm on the day after The Queen’s funeral.

You can find a Book of Condolence at the Civic Centre, Whickham Library, Blaydon Leisure Centre, Leam Lane Sure Start, Birtley Library, Saltwell Towers and St Mary’s Heritage Centre.

If you would like to leave a floral tribute for The Queen, you can do so at Saltwell Park Field of Remembrance, during the park’s opening hours.

Last night, the Gateshead Millennium Bridge was lit up in a purple light, in tribute to The Queen. The Queen formally opened the bridge in 2002.
