Social media users have been left asounded this week after a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared the cost of a train from London to Newcastle.

The post from Sunday, May 19 showed a screenshot of the LNER website with two anytime single train tickets from Newcastle to St Pancras Station in London costing £786.50.

The tickets were for seven days time, adding to the dismay while ont ehy day trains in the UK may cost the same amount.

The train company’s social media team tried to support the poster, but the post had alreadyt gone viral with hundreds of people from across the world offering alternatives on how to spend the money.

With that in mind, these are some of the things you can do with the cost of two anytime single return tickets from Newcastle to London.
