From mini golf to cocktails, Newcastle’s Junkyard Golf has something for everyone.

Junkyard Golf Club, on Newgate Street, in Newcastle city centre is the place to go for lovers of cocktails, food and of course, mini golf.

Despite the venue being open since the end of 2021, last week was the first time I had actually set foot inside and was pleasantly surprised by the experience.

There are three nine-hole golf courses, which are titled ‘Bozo’, ‘Pablo’, and ‘Gary’.

Given that the other two courses were busy, we opted for ‘Pablo’, which is described as a “polluted paradise” against a jungle-themed backdrop.

The course was fun with a number of challenges spread throughout but I would recommend to book two courses if you go as the nine holes seemed to fly by.

The mini golf was perfectly accompanied by the venue’s extensive cocktail menu - with all the options that we selected as a group being well worth it.

Each cocktail is unique and not something that you will find anywhere else.

Particular stand outs were ‘Love is Love’, a limited edition drink celebrating Pride month, ‘Disco is Dead’, which came in a disco ball cup, and ‘Bozo’s bad bubbles’, a Baileys themed drink served in a small popcorn bucket.

Alongside the cocktails was Junkyard Golf’s snack menu - a simple but effective choice of food offerings that you can enjoy pre or post golf.

Pizza twists and nachos along with a variety of dips are perfect for a light snack should you need one.

Newcastle and the surrounding areas have a number of mini golf courses similar to Junkyard Golf; however, the full package of mini golf, cocktails and the snack menu ensures that Junkyard stands out above the rest.
