The list aims to recognise the achievements and service of people across the country, including a number of people in the North East.

This year’s list was revealed on Friday evening (June 16) and features a number of people who live in and around Newcastle.

Some were awarded MBEs (Member of the Order of the British Empire) and others were awarded BEMs (British Empire Medal).

Here is the full list of people from in and around Newcastle who were named on this year’s list:

William Barnes: The 85-year-old, from Newcastle, was awarded an MBE for services to education and and to the community in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Jean Trewick: The 63-year-old, from Wallsend, was awarded an MBE for services to voluntary organisations.

Ian Pattison: The 50-year-old, from Gateshead, was awarded a BEM for services to the NHS.

Karolynne Hart: The 51-year-old, from Gateshead, was awarded a BEM for services to public libraries and to the arts.

Thomas Robson: The 61-year-old, from Newcastle, was awarded a BEM for charitable services to the community in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Lewis Potter: The 34-year-old, from Newcastle, was awarded a BEM for services to higher education and medicine.
