Local children to perform Oliver! at Tyne Theatre this autumn
and live on Freeview channel 276
A North East theatre company will be performing in one of Newcastle’s top theatres this autumn.
Astravaganza Entertainment, which is based in Newcastle and led by a team of North East based theatre performers and producers, have put together a production of Lionel Bart’s Oliver!, with a cast made up of 81 people.

Hide AdThe theatre company, who have so far put together over 20 successful productions, will be performing the timeless classic in Newcastle’s Tyne Theatre and Opera House from Wednesday, September 6 until Saturday, September 9.
Owner and founder of Astravaganza Entertainment, Liam Glendinning said: “The company has gained huge recognition as one of the finest and most professional theatre companies in the region since we established 11 years ago, and we’re extremely proud of that.”

He continued: “Oliver is a classic and everyone knows the story, so it will be great for all ages. We’re extremely excited to be bringing this production to the Tyne Theatre and Opera House, especially since the pandemic, we’ve found that the audiences’ hunger for live theatre shows has tripled, so we’re more than willing to feed that hunger!”

Hide AdGiven the amount of children and young people in the cast, Astravaganza Theatre have split them into two categories, Team Jelly and Team Custard, who will share the roles.
The children in Team Jelly will perform on Wednesday, September 6, Friday, September 8 and Saturday, September 9 (matinee performance). Team Custard will perform Thursday, September 7 and Saturday, September 9 (evening performance).
