Professor Lynne Corner, co-founder and Director of Voice and COO at the UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing said: “We look at how we can keep people healthier and happier for longer, and we really wanted to listen to people - what their needs and aspirations are and what do they care about?

“This is a facility in the heart of Newcastle where the community can come together alongside us and our colleagues and we can talk about those issues. Then we know what to focus on and what matters in terms of driving innovation.”

“It’s reversing the paradigm of research” added Nic Palmarini, Director of UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing. “Instead of doing research in the labs, you bring the engagement and research to where people live.

“I think it’s a fantastic way to connect the city to the people and help the city to deliver better, faster and more of what people are really looking for.
