Loosefest announce cancellation of entire weekend

The Newcastle festival has been cancelled due to concerns over bad weather.

Loosefest, the Newcastle festival which was set to take place over the weekend, has now been cancelled.

The festival was due to take place today (Saturday, August 5) and tomorrow (Sunday, August 6) on Newcastle’s Town Moor, with the likes of Example, Sean Paul, Joel Corry, Jax Jones, Craig David, Darren Styles and many more taking to the various stages within the festival.

However, it was announced via the Loosefest Facebook page that the entire weekend has been cancelled due to safety concerns over the bad weather.

Loosefest wrote on their page: “We deeply regret to announce that despite previous weather assurances and the best efforts by our festival and site team, unfortunately for reasons beyond our control LOOSEFEST23 is cancelled this weekend. We have been advised by the safety team and local authorities are in agreement that the festival site is not safe to open.

“With more heavy rain due over the weekend unfortunately we have been instructed that it will be a full festival cancellation.

“We appreciate this is absolutely devastating news. The safety of you guys, our artists and crew is priority as these shows and they cannot happen with out you!

“Ticket and refund updates to follow, please bear with us”

Loosefest then released an updated statement to their social media profiles, which said: “We are working on opening the clubs early for people that still want to rave today.

“Again we apologise, it is out of our hands. We will update once we know more info.”
