May Train strikes: Further industrial action to take place next month, including Newcastle services
After train strikes were announced by the train drivers union Aslef for April, further industrial action is due to take place as we enter May.
The train strikes across the UK have now entered their third year.

Hide AdThe most recent set of strikes will be over the course of a week with drivers at different companies striking on different days, meaning strike action in general continues for longer than previous day-long strikes.
Overtime bans will cause further cancellations across the UK.
When are UK train drivers striking in May?
After the Bank Holiday Monday due to take place on Monday, May 6, train drivers from various companies will be striking on the following days:
- Tuesday, May 7: c2c, Greater Anglia, Great Northern, Thameslink, Southeastern, Southern, Gatwick Express, South Western Railway main line and Island Line
- Wednesday,May 8: Avanti West Coast, Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Great Western Railway and West Midlands Trains
- Thursday, May 9: LNER, Northern Trains and TransPennine Express
An overtime ban will also take place between Monday, May 6 and Saturday, May 11, meaning delays and cancellations may be possible.
