Ministry of Sound announced as Northern Pride headliners

One of the biggest names in the dance music industry has been announced in the line-up for Northern Pride, which will take place at the end of July.

The LGBTQ+ event will take place over the weekend of July 22 and 23, at Newcastle’s Town Moor.

The Pride Festival 2023, will be held after the Pride March across the city, which will see Newcastle’s LGBTQ+ community and allies come together to celebrate and pay tribute to those from the community that they have sadly lost. The march will start from Newcastle’s Civic Centre at 12pm on July 22.

The festival is set to be jam-packed with entertainment, from live performances, a children’s fairground, food and drink vendors and much more.

Now, the headliners for the highly-anticipated line-up have been revealed, with dance DJs taking to the stage.

The first act is Ministry of Sound, one of the biggest names in the dance music industry, who will perform a special 90 minute set named Ministry of Sounds does Pride on the Saturday night in the Festival Arena.

Taking to the decks will be Smokin Jo, the only female to receive the No1 DJ Award, which she obtained in 1992.  The London based DJ has performed all over the world, in the likes of Japan, Ibiza and the USA.

Performing alongside Smokin Jo is DJ and record producer, Seamus Haji who has worked alongside music superstars such as Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Mika.

The Ministry of Sound does Pride act is the first to be announced, with more exciting acts and performances to be revealed in due course.

Director of Northern Pride, Ste Dunn said of the announcement:  “We were very keen to mix it up and have some entertainment that was very different than anything we’d had before.

“It’s a real coup for us getting two of the biggest DJs in the world to perform but we’re confident it will be an amazing club and party set.”

Tickets for Northern Pride start from £6 for a day pass and £10 for a weekend pass. Tickets can be purchased from the Northern Pride website, with upgrade options available.
