Set in 1930s New York, the story of Annie focuses on a young orphan who dreams of a better life. The musical is a Tony award winner, with great songs throughout such as It’s The Hard Knock Life and Tomorrow. The show will star Paul O’Grady as Miss Hannigan. Titanic The Musical will be at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal from March 27 until April 1. The well-told story is based on real people who tragically lost their lives in 1912. The musical version tells the stories of the passengers. You can book tickets here.
Known as “The Official Take That Musical”, Greatest Days follows the story of five Take That fans, who reunite 20 years later to see the band perform again. The show is filled throughout with Take That’s biggest hits. The show will be at the Theatre Royal from May 29 until June 3. You can book tickets here.
Rock of Ages
Rock of Ages is a jukebox musical, with the biggest rock hits of all time performed. The show will be at the Theatre Royal from June 13 until June 17. You can book tickets here.
Based on the 1992 movie of the same name, starring Whoopi Goldberg, Sister Act focuses on a woman who witnesses a murder and is placed in protective custody, in a convent. Once there, she helps the struggling choir of nuns to perform to a high standard. Sister Act will be at the Theatre Royal from June 19 until June 24. You can book tickets here.
Kinky Boots tells the story of the owner of a shoe making company, who decides to change the direction of his business and begins to make shoes for drag queens. Music and lyrics are by 80s pop icon Cyndi Lauper. The show will be on between July 25 and July 29. You can book tickets here.
The Bodyguard is based on the 90s movie starring Whitney Houston. The plot focuses on a superstar performer and the bodyguard who is hired to protect her. The 2023 production will star former Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton as the lead actress. The show will be at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal from August 15 until August 19. You can book tickets here.
The Drifters Girl
The Drifters Girl focuses on the story of the motown vocal group, and the legendary manager behind their success, Faye Treadwell. The Drifters iconic hits are performed throughout the show. It will be at the Theatre Royal from November 14 until November 18. You can book tickets here.
