NCPCC heads up Newcastle baby week to promote kids development
A week-long celebration from Thursday November 14 to Wednesday, November 20 the event brings together families, professionals, and community organisations to promote early childhood development.
This year’s event in Newcastle promises a full week of interactive activities, resources, and learning opportunities for families with young children.

To kick off Baby Week 2024, the NSPCC will be at the Great North Museum: Hancock on Thursday, November 14th, from 10am to 2pm.
The NSPCC’s practitioners and campaigns colleague will be on hand to introduce attendees to Look, Say, Sing, Play – a campaign focused on enhancing parent-child interactions through playful and interactive activities that boost brain development.
Another flagship NSPCC offering is Pregnancy in Mind – a service aimed at supporting expectant parents’ mental wellbeing and preparing for the arrival of their new family member.
Practitioners will be able to share information about the importance of looking after parental mental health and types of activities and techniques included in the service.

Events like Baby Week are crucial because they offer a unique opportunity for families to learn, connect, and access valuable support from trusted local services all in one place.
“The early years are vital for a child’s development, and at NSPCC, we believe in supporting parents every step of the way. We encourage families to join us at the opening event to explore new ways of bonding with their little ones and to meet our dedicated practitioners who can provide guidance on everything from baby massage to mental well-being programs.”
The event on Thursday November 14 will also feature numerous local services supporting families, including Children and Families Newcastle, NAPI, Newcastle United Foundation, The National Literacy Trust, The Children's Foundation, and North East Young Dads and Lads.

Hide AdDuring the event families with babies aged two and under are also invited to participate in taster sessions from a variety of services, including baby massage and song time – a perfect chance for parents and caregivers to bond with their little ones in new, engaging ways.
