New owners of popular Gateshead pub promises "all new" experience ahead of summer opening

The new landlord of a Gateshead pub has promised sweeping changes after the site closed earlier this summer.

Hide AdThe Schooner on the south bank of the Tyne was hugely popular for its Sunday roasts, live music and riverside spot before it closed at the start of June.
The new landlord took to the pub’s social media platforms earlier this month confirming the switch and announcing the site’s new name will be Fog On The Tyne.
In a new post the ownership has confirmed more information about the new iteration of the pub.

Hide AdCurrently expected to open in mid July, the post reads: “We're going all out on beers and wines to make this our ideal vision of a bar. 14 lines of imported lager, locally sourced craft beer, independent ciderand Guinness along with three real ale pumps that will change regularly.”
It continues: “It's an all new pub, all new name and with it an all new menu. Expect a concise menu of simple but refined pub classics with some modern twists.

Hide AdA full refurbishment of the pub has also been teased by the new owners.
The pub is situated on gateshead’s South Shore Road and is a familiar site for those regularly heading to football matches at the nearby Gateshead International Stadium as the nearest pub to the current home of Gateshead FC.
It was also well loved for its food menu and Sunday lunches, alongside a large beer garden to the side of the main building.
