Newcastle actor Tim Healy comments on local elections on social media

Newcastle actor Tim Healy, has given his opinion on the local elections - with specific interest to North East areas.

71-year-old Healy was born in Benwell in Newcastle upon Tyne, and has always represented the North East in his successful acting career.

Healy’s film and television roles have included playing the role of Dennis Patterson in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, Les/Lesley Conroy in Benidorm, Dave Miller in Waterloo Road and Gerry’s father in the Newcastle United fan film, Purely Belter. Healy himself is an avid supporter of Newcastle United.

Now, via his Twitter account @TheRealTimHealy, the Geordie actor tweeted a simple line, which allowed his following of 76.4 thousand people to be aware of his political stance.

Healy retweeted a live update from BBC Radio Newcastle, who were reporting on the local election results. The tweet, posted at 8:10am, read: “Labour have held Sunderland, Newcastle and South Tyneside councils in the local elections.”

In the original tweet by BBC Radio Newcastle was a link to a news article from the BBC, which gave further detail to the election results in the North East.

Healy retweeted the post, with a comment that read: “Just as it should be”, alongside two thumbs up emojis.

Healy’s post racked up 29.8 thousand views, and gathered over 200 likes.

Healy shares two sons with ex-wife, Geordie actress Denise Welch, one of which is The 1975 frontman Matty Healy. The family have recently made headlines due to speculation that Matty is dating American superstar Taylor Swift.
