Newcastle and Gateshead’s iconic Tyne Bridge through the years

The bridge was first opened in 1928 by King George V.

The Tyne Bridge which links Newcastle and Gateshead and stands over the River Tyne, was officially opened almost 100 hundred years ago in 1928 by King George V, and has since become an iconic symbol and landmark representing the North East’s history and culture.
