Newcastle-based Fat Hippo launches a limited edition ‘rum-infused’ burger

Fat Hippo, a Newcastle-based burger chain, has announced a partnership with Kraken Rum to launch the limited edition ‘Hippo vs Kraken’ burger.

Launching on Tuesday, June 18, the burger will be able at all 17 of Fat Hippo’s restaurants across the country.

The multi-tiered burger features a black charcoal brioche bun, a teriyaki-glazed double beef patty, American cheese, a grilled ham and mozzarella panko fritter, garlic butter mayo and a Kraken Black Spiced Rum, pineapple and jalapeno salsa.

Fans of Fat Hippo will have to act fast as the burger will only be on the menu until June 21.

Alongside the ‘Hippo vs Kraken’ burger, there will also be at launch of the ‘The Perfect Storm’ cocktail, which will be available 13 Fat Hippo restaurants - including all three in the North East.

The brand new cocktail is made up of Kraken Black Spiced Rum and ginger ale, served with a lime wedge.

Fat Hippo has confirmed that the cocktail will remain on the menu following the end of the limited edition burger.
