Newcastle based film I, Daniel Blake to perform at Northern Stage
and live on Freeview channel 276
Newcastle theatre venue and producers Northern Stage, will be putting on a stage production of the Newcastle based 2016 film, I Daniel Blake.
The Ken Loach directed drama film, which focused on the struggles of two individuals living in Newcastle and claiming government benefits, was critically acclaimed and went on to win numerous awards including a BAFTA Film Award for Best British Film.

Hide AdNow, the incredibly important film, which provides a voice for the working class community in the North East has been adapted into a stage production by Dave Johns, who played the role of Daniel Blake in the film.
The show will perform at Northern Stage’s Stage 2, which is based within Newcastle University, located at Barras Bridge in the city centre of Newcastle.
Starring in the lead roles are David Nellist as Daniel Blake and Bryony Corrigan as Katie Jenkins.
The show began performing yesterday on Tuesday, May 30 and will continue its run until Saturday, June 10.

Hide AdAll performances will be captioned, and further accessible performances will also take place. Audio described performances will take place on Saturday June 3 at 2pm and Tuesday, June 6 at 7pm. A British Sign Language interpreted performance will take place on Friday, June 2 at 7pm and Saturday, June 10 at 2pm. A relaxed performance will take place on Thursday, June 8 at 7pm.
An I, Daniel Blake Festival event will also be held at Northern Stage on Thursday, June 1 which will ‘celebrate grassroots art, food, music and stories’.
