Newcastle BMX star Kieran Reilly follows Olympic medal with European Championships gold
Gateshead born Keiran Reilly won the hearts of Sports fans across the North East during the Olympics with stunning performances in the BMX Freestyle competition in Paris.
After an incredibly entertaining final, Reilly picked up a silver medal in the competition over the summer - and the last few weeks have seen the rider remain both busy and successful!

Hide AdReilly was the official starter of the 2024 edition of the Great North Run following his success over the channel, and has now won his first competition since the Olympics.


Soon after the Paris games, the 2024 European BMX Championships were held in Switzerland with Reilly picking up the gold medal over the two day event.
Taking to social media after the event, Reilly posted: “So stoked to make it back to back European championships and take home the jersey today…with the last run of the event!😅
“Insane level of riding in finals, so pumped to get my run done second time out, getting back to work after Paris has paid off!”

Hide AdThis is the second time the North East local has won a continental championship event, having won the Freestyle Park event at the European Games back in 2023.
Reilly faced off against the Olympic bronze medalist, Anthony JeanJean at the event too. The French rider finished in the second placed position. Britain’s Dylan Hessey took the third position in the European Championships.
The Olympic gold medal went to Argentinian rider Jose Torres Gil.
Reilly also came into this summer with the title of World Champion, having won gold at the 2023 World Championships in Glasgow.
