Newcastle-born wrestler set to join WWE stars as he makes his W3L debut

A Newcastle-born wrestler is set to make his W3L debut as he joins WWE stars in the city this week.

A wrestling event coming to Newcastle is set to see a homegrown wrestler make his debut for the World Wide Wrestling League (W3L).

The event is set to take place at the John Marley Centre, on Muscott Grove, on Friday, December 1.

Newcastle wrestler Lou Nixon will be making his debut for W3L at Friday's event as he takes on Canada's Tim Strange.

Lou will wrestle alongside stars from Progress Wrestling, who have been seen on the WWE Network, with the event also set to be filmed for the Demand Progress Plus streaming platform.

The event marks the first time that W3L have partnered with Progress Wrestling.

Other matches will include W3L World Champion Taylor Bryden defending his title against Progress Wrestling’s Malik.

Claire Fernie, tour manager for W3L, has revealed that visitors in Newcastle can expect from the event this Friday.

She said: "We are excited about coming back to Newcastle and even more excited to be launching our relationship with Progress On Demand in Newcastle.

"With this being the first W3L event filmed for the Progress platform, we are bringing the best from W3L to mix it up with the stars from Progress along with the W3L debut of Newcastle's own Lou Nixon.

"We're coming back to Newcastle with a bang and this return will be our biggest event in the city to date."

Doors for the event open at 6.30pm, with the bell for the first match ringing at 7pm.

Tickets are on sale now, starting from £14 with concessions and family tickets also available.
