Newcastle construction worker wins jackpot after betting only £1

A construction worker from Newcastle couldn’t believe his luck, when he won the latest jackpot at the city centre’s Grosvenor Casino, located on St James Boulevard.

The mystery geordie, who has chosen to remain anonymous, managed to take home the £19,400 jackpot while playing blackjack, after betting only £1.

The construction worker placed a £1 bet in the blackjack side bet game, Ace King Progressive. After going head-to-head with the dealer in the game, the man found that he won the jackpot of £19,400.

As per the rules of the game, a player can only win from a £1 chip if both the player and the dealer draw a blackjack match, by both holding the ace and king of the same suit - which is how the mystery winner bagged the top cash prize.

Now, he has plans to use his winnings to take his wife and daughter on a luxury holiday this summer. 

Speaking about his jackpot prize, the mystery winner said: “To be honest, the feeling of winning still hasn’t sunk in, I'm still on cloud nine. The win has come at the right time as I was hoping to take the family away on holiday and with the money, I can do just that!” General manager at Grosvenor Casino Newcastle,Wayne Sheekey, said, “A massive congratulations to our lucky winner.
