Perhaps unsurprisingly, Newcastle has been crowned the number one city for a night out in the UK.

North East neighbour York came in second, but the Toon came out on top thanks to its ‘iconic’ local nightlife.

UK cities were ranked by Get Licensed on several factors: safety levels, the number of bars and clubs, the cost of a pint and residents’ safety concerns.

Scoring 8.19 out of 10, this is what Get Licensed had to say about Newcastle: ‘The North East city of Newcastle has a vast array of bars and nightclubs to dance the night away (66 per 100,000 people) and also had one of the highest scores for its number of prestigious CAMRA pubs (211 per 100,000).

‘The average price of a beer cost in Newcastle averages at around £4.20 a pint, which is fairly cheap compared to other big cities in the North.’

Whilst the North East scores incredibly high on this list, London comes out on the bottom- thanks to the cost of living crisis increasing the cost of a pint to a whopping £7.
