The 23-year-old was taken into custody while his car was searched – with officers finding £2,800 in cash, a quantity of cocaine in the door and an apartment key.

When officers tracked down the apartment in Newcastle, they carried out a search which led to the recovery of quantities of heroin, crystal meth, ketamine and cannabis worth an estimated £88,720.

Officers worked to ensure Miah of Kingsley Terrace in Newcastle, was charged and remanded for court. On December 20, he pleaded guilty at Newcastle Crown Court.

On Monday, Miah appeared back at the same court where he was jailed for four years and one month, after previously pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply MDMA, cocaine, heroin, cannabis, ketamine and acquiring criminal property.

Praising the result, Detective Inspector Jason Henry from Northumbria Police said: “This is great result for our communities, who tell us about the harm caused by organised criminals operating in their areas.

“Miah’s arrest was the result of officers from across the Force working together as part of Operation Sentinel – our dedicated activity to tackling serious and organised crime and drug supply.

“As part of the investigation into Miah, we seized and destroyed a large quantity of Class A, B and C drugs which will now never make it onto the streets or be able to line the pockets of dealers.

“I am pleased Miah is now behind bars and hope this sends a clear message that we will bring robust action against those involved in this type of criminality.”
