Leaders at the North East’s biggest airport are predicting that around 1.3 million people will pass through Newcastle International during the school summer holidays.

That number is a 10% rise on the amount of passengers through travelled from Newcastle during the same period in 2022.

Graeme Mason, Chief Sustainability and Communications Officer at Newcastle International Airport, has put the rise in passengers down to an added demand from the North East public to get abroad this summer.

He commented: “The main holiday for the North East travelling public has always been really important, I think they are prioritising it.

“People work hard all year and they definitely deserve their holiday.”

As the busy summer period gets in full swing, Graeme also issued some advice to make passing through Newcastle International Airport as easy and as stress free as possible.

He added: “So between the Scottish and English school holidays, over 1.3 million people will be passing through the airport which is 10% up on last year.

“People will be pleased to hear that Newcastle is an easy airport to get through but we’d urge people to get here in the time that the airline says, they don’t need to get here any earlier.
