The winners have chosen to remain anonymous. Two winners from Woodchurch Close won £30,000 while a third person won £60,000.

Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt said: “A massive congratulations to the three winners of our Sunday £30k prize.

“I love visiting winners all across Britain but it’s always lovely to deliver the news so close to home.” Former radio and television presenter Judie was born in Consett, Country Durham.

This isn’t the first time neighbours in the North East have picked up a win from the People’s Postcode Lottery, as less than a month ago, a whopping £10.2 million was won by 750 neighbours in Teesside.

By playing the People’s Postcode Lottery, funds are able to be raised for charities and good causes. Over the years, more than a billion pounds has been raised in total.

The draw won by the Newcastle neighbours, was promoted on behalf of the Postcode Animal Trust, which supports animal based charities such as Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Dogs Trust and PDSA.
