There are currently 11 power outages in Newcastle, according to the Northern Powergrid, which is likely to affect hundreds of homes in the area. A restoration time has however been given.
No work has been scheduled to be carried out in the area - making this an ‘unplanned’ event. The outages come after snow has blanketed the UK, with the north east one of the worst hit areas.

The Northern Powergrid provides electricity to 3.9 million people in both the north east and Yorkshire combined. Alongside Newcastle, hundreds in Trimdon Colliery, Durham also lost power today (March 9).
Northern Powergrid said: "The power cut affecting these properties has been caused by an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment that serve the area. If you need to report an emergency, please call 105."
