The event was initially designed to support the restaurant industry at two of the traditionally quietest times of the year, in January post-Christmas and in August during the quiet summer holidays.
Now these two weeks of the year are two of the busiest for the city’s restaurant industry filling venues and boosting the local economy by £1 million each time the event is held.

The restaurant is excited to participate in its first Newcastle Restaurant Week and to welcome diners to enjoy what owners say are authentic and unusual Indian dishes.
“We are delighted to be participating in our first NE1’s Newcastle Restaurant Week. This event provides us with a fantastic opportunity to introduce new guests to our unique cuisine and to welcome back those who have already experienced the distinctive flavours of Dakwala.
“We can’t wait to invite everyone to come and savour a true taste of India during this amazing week.”
As well as the newcomers, all the city’s favourites are lined up, ready to participate, including Terry Laybourne’s 21, St. Vincent, and The Broad Chare.
