Newcastle Uni ranked as one of the UK’s most haunted

British universities are usually located in old, historic buildings. With Halloween approaching, UK training company The Knowledge Academy decided to find out whether or not these beautiful, ancient buildings were haunted! They researched paranormal reports, cemeteries, and more to determine the list.

The University of Liverpool came out top as the UK’s most haunted university. But we didn’t get off lightly, as our very own Newcastle University made the top ten, being the tenth most haunted university in the country.  Research from The Knowledge Academy found that Newcastle University has a count of 32 paranormal reports and 25,744 gravestones within a two mile radius.

The Knowledge Academy determined this order of the list by creating sub categories that could be scored out of ten. Newcastle University scored; 7.25 for university age, 7.58 for number of listed buildings within two miles, 3.44 for average years since listed building designation, 9.65 for paranormal reports within two miles, 7.41 for sum of gravestones at cemeteries and 7.75 for cemeteries within two miles. Lastly, a final spooky score was given, with Newcastle University scoring 7.18.
