Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer sends message of support to fan

The family of a young boy who has been diagnosed with leukaemia reached out on Twitter to Newcastle United.

Newcastle United legendary player, Alan Shearer has sent a message of support to a fan who has been diagnosed with leukaemia.

A Twitter user named Andrew Cleaver, posted an image to the social media platform of his son, Arthur who is currently in hospital. He wrote: “Hey @theberrypub - My son Arthur, a huge @NUFC fan is currently not having the best time having been recently diagnosed with leukaemia! He’d love a ‘Howay Arthur’ from you guys….and all the Magpie fans out there!!!”

The photo shared of the young Newcastle United fan, saw his hospital room decorated with Newcastle United memorabilia which included a flag and cushion cover, while Arthur himself can be seen wearing a team shirt.

The post was spotted by Newcastle United former captain Alan Shearer, who replied to the post writing: “Howay Arthur. Keep fighting”.

Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi also replied the post, writing to the young fan: “Howay Arthur…keep fighting my friend, we need you back cheering the team for next season”.

The official Twitter profile for the Newcastle United team also sent their well wishes and support, as they wrote: “Howay Arthur! We’re all right with you. You’ve got this.”

The post also gathered the attention of fellow Newcastle United fans who took to the original post, as well as Alan Shearer’s retweeted post to send their support to Arthur.

Andrew Cleaver posted an updated photo of Arthur with his thumbs up, alongside a caption that read: “Thank you for supporting my boy! Means so much!!!”
