Sandro Tonali’s girlfriend has opened up about the couple’s move to Newcastle and how they turned their lives upside down.

People kicked up a lot of fuss when Sandro Tonali arrived on Tyneside, with many stating the Italian was unhappy to be moving from his boyhood club to Newcastle United.

The rumours were quickly dispelled by Tonali and Eddie Howe, however, who confidently said he wouldn’t want a player who wasn’t fully committed to the Toon cause.

And now the midfielder’s long-term girlfriend, Juliette Pastore, has opened up about the couple’s first couple of months in Newcastle and how well they have settled in.

Answering questions on Instagram, Juliette said: “It’s been a difficult few months. From one moment to another you find yourself turning your life upside down and moving to another country far from everything. Not to mention the transfer issue, bureaucratic issues etc.

“There were a few people who didn’t help and didn’t made this change easy, but grinding our teeth we kept going.”

After a difficult transition, Juliette seems to be settling into Newcastle life, dispelling any thoughts that she’s swapped the heat and beauty of Italy for a dreary England.

“I always loved England, the English mentality etc,” she said. “So for me it’s a dream to live here and get to know their culture better. When it comes to the weather (most tagged question) I’ve never been a big fan of heat, sun, sea... I prefer this weather.”

Juliette then turned her attention specifically to Newcastle, commenting on how beautiful she’s found it so far. Over the past couple of months she has posted a lot of the North East’s iconic sites and is a frequent visitor to Tynemouth.

“I’m feeling good. Newcastle is not London, it’s a city in the North of England, very distinctive but too too pretty and fascinating. It’s a small but very beautiful town.

“The people here are fantastic, they are all super helpful and friendly. I’m happy to be here and it’s going to be a crazy experience.”
