The young singer eventually got to perform for The Voice Kids judges, Pixie Lott, will.i.am, McFly’s Danny Jones and former Boyzone lead, Ronan Keating in a “blind audition”.

On The Voice and The Voice Kids, singers perform to the back of the judges’ red chairs, which is known as a “blind audition”. If the judges like what they hear, they will press a button to light up their chair and turn around to see the singer. If more than one judge turns around, the singer must choose which judge they would like to mentor them.

Yazmin’s mother, Marybeth Gilbride said: “Yazmin has sung and danced since she was very small, she has always loved to be the centre of attention. Singing and dancing is Yazmin’s happy place - if she could do it all day, she would.

“She started singing at Natasha Dudman Vocal Academy in Newcastle around four years ago, and it was Natasha who put Yazmin forward for The Voice Kids.”

Although what Yazmin sang in her “blind audition” is still under wraps until her episode airs on ITV this Saturday, Marybeth gaves us a hint of what type of music Yazmin usually sings. She said: “She loves to sing a mixture of genres, from Whitney Houston to Yungblud toElvis Presley. She has a vast range.”

When asked if Yazmin is excited for her singing talents to be on primetime television, Marybeth said: “She’s very excited but a little nervous too. She’s her own biggest critic.”

Marybeth further explained that the production team on The Voice Kids were fantastic with the children as they explained and prepared the kids for the social media commentary that comes with appearing on a televised talent show.

As Yazmin and her family anticipate her on screen debut on Saturday, Marybeth told us of how they are brimming with pride. She said:  “As a family, we are all extremely proud of her.”

Marybeth and Yazmin want to give a special thank you to Yazmin’s singing teacher Natasha Dudman - for her teaching and for putting Yazmin forward for the show.
