Parent Power tables published by The Times rank schools based on their average performance using A-level, GCSE and IB outcomes from summer 2023.
Selective Ripon Grammar School was rated the best State Secondary School of the Year title for the northern region while Durham Johnston Comprehensive School was given top marks across North East schools.
Not all schools in the city are included as the guide only lists the top 400 schools in the country.
These schools are listed by their regional rankings.
1. Newcastle Royal Grammar School
Newcastle Royal Grammar School is ranked as the best school in the city and 51st in the country. It is ranked 49th for A Level results and 54th for GCSEs.
2. Dame Allan's Schools
The girls side of the school is ranked 156 nationally with a 166 and 147 ranking for A Levels and GCSEs respectively while the boys side is ranked 174th with 166 and 181 rankings for grades.
3. St Mary's Catholic School
St Mary's Catholic School in Benton is ranked 249th nationally. The school's A Level ranking is 252 while its GCSE ranking is 265.
4. Ponteland High School
