The Hoppings which will arrive on Friday, June 21 - will display submitted artwork from young people which will celebrate the iconic fairground.

As The Hoppings returns to Newcastle’s Town Moor in the summer, the organisers of Europe’s largest travelling fair are offering young aspiring artists an opportunity to showcase their talents. 

Organised by Crow Events, The Hoppings is an event for all the family, promising a jam-packed event of fairground rides, live entertainment and much more.

With over 400 rides and attractions, the highly-anticipated fairground will arrive on Friday, June 21 and will remain for ten days, before leaving on Sunday, June 30.

As well as their popular fairground rides, there will also be live music and a dedicated Kids’ Club where magicians and characters will visit. 

A wide variety of food stalls will also be available to buy from on Feast Street, as well as a dining area and a licensed bar.

For the first time ever, The Hoppings will be holding an art competition for young people with the artwork submitted displayed within the fairground.

The Hoppings are encouraging young people under the age of 18 to draw or paint a piece of art which represents a personal experience of the fairground - from eating candy floss to embarking on a favourite ride.

The artwork submitted by the youngsters will be on display during the ten day event, which will then be judged by The Hoppings organisers. 

The winner of the competition will receive a package of goodies, which will include free ride tickets, vouchers for food and drink and more.

To enter the competition, the artwork must be uploaded to The Hoppings website, authorised by a parent or guardian with their contact details. 

The deadline for artwork submissions is Friday, June 14.

Ryan Crow of Crow Events, said: “We are always wanting to add new elements every year to get the local community more involved with The Hoppings.

“This is a great way for children of all ages to show what The Hoppings means to them and then be able to come and see their artwork on display.

“We can’t wait to see what they will produce.”
