Newcastle’s NQ64 launches its summer cocktail menu - perfect for nostalgic gaming

A popular retro gaming bar has released its new summer cocktail menu.

Newcastle’s popular retro gaming bar, NQ64, has announced its brand new cocktail menu and drink deals in time for the summer months.

The bar, on Pilgrim Street, launched the new menu on Thursday, May 9, to add a new and refreshed concoction of classic cocktails and game-themed creations.

The menu has been fully created by the bar’s in-house drinks experts to provide retro gamers with something a bit different.

Some of the venue’s already popular cocktails have also undergone a reboot to keep regular customers on their toes with some new flavours.

James Taylor, one of the in-house drinks experts at NQ64, said: “When we dreamt up our new drinks menu, we wanted to match the fun and excitement of our games, whilst shouting about the top-notch quality of our cocktails.

“We whip up every drink concept right here in-house with our talented Head Bartenders, drawing from our extensive knowledge of cocktail history.

“We've got our fair share of arcade game fame, but our cocktails? They're the real MVPs."

Some of the highlights on the new NQ64 cocktail menu include:

The Lemmingade - A zesty, summery delight which includes Limoncello, Absolut Citron, lemon, Pink Hooch, prosecco and rosemary.

The Golden-Iced Latte - Taking inspiration from a vanilla iced latte, this cocktail includes NQ64’s Worther’s Original infused coco-milk, Havava Especial, Licor 43, butterscotch, espresso and butterscotch foam.

The Royal Crumble - Said to be a light and sweet martini-style treat, the Royal Crumble is made up of Jack Daniel’s Apple, lime, rhubarb and custard.

The Disco Stu Daiquiri - This rebooted cocktail plays on the name of the iconic Simpsons character and includes Duppy White, bubblegum and lime.

The Kong Island Iced Tea - Inspired by the ‘8th Wonder of the World’, the Kong Island Iced Tea has about everything in it, including Absolut vodka, El Jimador tequila, Beefeater gin, Wray & Nephew rum, Caribbean pineapple, tea and sour peach.

The Mad Max Zombie - Fresh from Fury Road, this cocktail is as a perfect combination of house rum blend, grapefruit, pineapple, guava, orange, cherry and cinnamon fire.

Six classic cocktails, such as an Espresso Martini and a Margarita, have also been added to the new menu to ensure that there is something for everyone.

The NQ64 team have also freshened up their non-alcoholic cocktails to include the No Uka Uka (Caleno 0%, guava, pineapple & refresher syrup) and the Hits From The Pong (Raspberry, guava, kimi & lime - can be made with CBD).

Joel Grey, another of NQ64’s drinks experts, has highlighted that the ingredients in the venue’s cocktails are what makes them stand out from other bars.

He added: “We spare no effort in ensuring the highest quality ingredients, even creating some of our syrups and cordials in-house, such as our Cherry Blossom Old Fashioned syrup and the Worther's Original-infused coco-milk, used in the Golden Latte.

“Our specially selected ingredients and unique methods are what sets our cocktails apart from those found in your average bar.”

The team at NQ64 Newcastle have confirmed that the six classic cocktails will be available for just £6 across six days a week (Sunday to Friday until 7pm) with its new ‘POWER UP!’ deal.

NQ64 is also introducing its ‘Multiplayer 6-Pack Carry Case’ which allows customers to take a six-pack of Hooch or White Claw around the venue whilst playing the retro games.

The Newcastle bar features a number of iconic games such as Pac-Man, Mario Kart, Guitar Hero, Time Crisis, classic consoles, retro arcade machines, as well as pinball and more.

It is open seven days a week, from 4pm to 2am on weekdays and from 12pm until 2am on weekends.
