It has been a busy couple of weeks for the courts. With disorder taking place across the North East including Sunderland, we have seen plenty of people work their way through the logal system over the last two weeks or so.
These are nine of the people jailed or given suspended sentences for offences in or around the North East throughout August.
They all appeared at Newcastle Crown Court unless otherwise stated.
1. Jack Fowler
Jack Fowler, 24, of Northbourne Street, Elswick, Newcastle, pleaded guilty to violent disorder following unrest in Sunderland. He was jailed for two years. | Northumbria Police
2. David Hann
Hann, 58 of Sunderland admitted religiously aggravated threatening behaviour during the demonstration on Wearside has was jailed for eight months. | Northumbria Police
3. Kelly Steel
Kelly Steel of Allendale Square, Sunderland admitted theft after £300 worth of items were taken from a Wearside shop. She has been jailed for five months. | Northumbria Police
4. Christopher Harrison
Harrison had an online sex chat with two undercover police officers he thought were children. He admitted two charges of attempted sexual communication with a child, two of attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act, one of arranging the commission of a child sex offence and one of sending an image with intent to cause alarm, distress or humiliation and has been jailed for 42 months. | Northumbria Police.
